Google Maps for Android is getting a minor update today that brings compact navigation cards, more informative expanded notifications and more. Version 7.3 of Google Maps for Android is rolling out slowly to users starting today.

The app’s card interface has been subtly improved to make use of limited space. Information is now more densely displayed, putting traffic and distance information on the same line instead of separate lines. This means you can see more without scrolling as much.

Expanded notifications have also undergone a subtle change. In the notification tray, you can drag down with two fingers to reveal expanded notifications. In previous versions of Google Maps for Android, the notification only showed you the destination address and the next turn. With this update, Google has added time, distance, and expected arrival times into the notification.

Although minor, this update does much to make the interface of Google Maps for Android cleaner and more informative.
