google maps ios iconGoogle has updated its Maps app for iOS with some much needed features. The most notable update is contact integration, which means you can finally look up your contacts’ names in the app and get his or her address. Start typing a contact’s name and his or her name will immediately be suggested. Contacts integration isn’t limited to contacts that you have on your phone but all of your Google Contacts.

Local searches have also been improved. Performance and usability have both been sped up. There are icons up top of the app that show icons for restaurants, coffee shops, bars, gas stations and more. This will provide quick access to specific types of searches for local venues.

Other minor updates include rolling out Google Maps for iOS to seven new countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Users can also choose to list distance in miles or kilometers.
