The redesigned Google Maps is now rolling out to users around the world. It has been in preview for the last nine months, first debuting during Google’s I/O developer conference. The redesign and new features are dramatic so Google has been cautious with a full rollout.

The new Maps may be intimidating to new users but it does offer a more intuitive experience. When you search for something in Google Maps, you’ll be able to see tons of results on the map as well as suggestions at the top left. Options for directions, saving a location, Street View, and reviews are all located in their own “cards.”

Traffic and public transportation options are also redesigned with Waze integration. Google Maps still finds the most efficient route for you, whether you’re driving, taking the train, or riding a bike.

New to Google Maps is 3D imagery, which displays landmarks in a fly-over view. Google Earth is now integrated and provides satellite imagery and the new 3D view. Landmarks like San Francisco’s City Hall are rendered beautifully in 3D. The new view allows users to explore a photorealistic version of a city.

The new Google Maps will be rolling out to users worldwide “over the coming weeks” so be patient if you haven’t received the update. Google know radically redesigned products will result in inevitable “bumps along the road.” Users can submit feedback about the new Maps here.
